Melting organic and synthesized sounds together, Rotate writes and produces music that defined by attention to sequence and progression of emotion.
Rotate (formerly known as Semper Fly) is an electronic music duo from Bozeman, Montana. Friends from an early age, Diego and Peter began writing music collaboratively in high school. Both members are accomplished DJs, with countless hours of experience at hundreds of gigs ranging from art gallery openings, to their senior prom, to club sets, to several festival appearances. Their sets prioritize the crowd’s experience over all else, and they consistently seek to expand peoples musical horizons while building intense, positive energy.
The inspiration for the name Rotate is in aviation. During takeoff, an aircraft gains speed until reaching a velocity where the wings are generating enough lift for the plane to safely leave the ground. To pull back on the controls and lift the plane is to “rotate.” There is a distinct physical feeling associated with this action of excitement, anticipation, and acceleration. This is the feeling Diego and Peter work to emulate in the studio and on stage.
